63-Year-Old Worker From Cape Cod Dies In Accident At Brockton Hospital: DA

A 63-year-old worker has died following a construction accident near Brockton Hospital this week, according to officials.

The accident occurred at a site at Quincy Avenue and Libby Street in Brockton just after 12 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz reports.

Cruz said that Roger Porter, of East Sandwich, was leveling gravel when be became trapped under a Bobcat Skid Steer loader. Porter was pronounced dead at the scene.

The hospital has been closed since February after more than 100 patients were evacuated because of a transformer fire, as previously reported by Daily Voice

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine Porter's official cause of death, Cruz said. The incident is under investigation by the DA's Office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
